Three Blue Ducks Rosebery will open early in June, adding to the hospitality group's successful launches at the beach in Bronte and a farm outside Byron Bay.

After protracted negotiations, Ducks' co-owner Darren Robertson says, they finally signed last week. "We don't want to just change the name and reopen. Mike McEnearney did a great job here with Kitchen by Mike, we want to give it our own stamp.

"We're going to do table service, and have big plans outside with the garden – we want to grow even more, inside as well. We're also building a new outdoor barbecue area."

With its Byron Bay farm increasing yield, the chef explains produce will make its way south. It isn't the first attempt by the Ducks team to open a second Sydney eatery; plans were advanced at one stage to launch in Redfern. The Rosebery site has long appealed to them and the closure of a short-lived restaurant there late last year after Kitchen by Mike vacated created an opportunity to lease the space from neighbouring design outfit Koskela.
