Try your truffles here, it's truffle season

Victoria's truffle season kicks off in winter which means three months of scoffing and sniffing the coveted, seasonal funghi.

If you'd like to get your hands dirty you can dig up your own. Truffle Melbourne has conveniently put together a list of farms offering weekend truffle hunts, most within one-and-a-half hours' drive of the city. They're also behind a weekend of free festivities at Prahran Market, June 18­19, with mock truffle hunts, truffle tastings and cooking demonstrations by chefs Paul Wilson, Philippe Mouchel and Guy Grossi. If you're more of a shopper than a hunter Madame Truffles pop­-up is on again. Grab a copy of Rodney Dunn's The Truffle Cookbook and stock up on all kinds of truffly stuff like honey, ice-cream, salt, pop corn and pasta.
