Veil drawn on Mask

Chinatown stalwart Mask of China has closed. A pioneer of Chiu Chow cuisine in Melbourne, Mask had been trading since the late 1980s and for a long time was one of the city's most respected Chinese restaurants. It received a score of 15/20 and one hat in The Age Good Food Guide 2006, dropped down to 12/20 in the 2007 Guide, and didn't gain hat status again. A sign in the window stated: ''We are sad to announce the Mask of China is now closed for business.''
