As chief financial officer for tech and telecommunication companies, Kirstie Brown knows restaurants are a risky financial proposition.

But she’s caught the bug, so much so that Seawall, which has recently swung open its doors at 6/17 Hickson Road, Walsh Bay, is her second moonlighting venture. Brown and business partner Haiden Walsh opened Lotus Dumpling House, also at Walsh Bay, before differing opinions on the future direction of the restaurant saw them depart and sell their share to their former business partner.

While only open for a week, Seawall chefs James Watson and Dion Green [ex Bondi Hardware] already have a best seller on their hands with a dish of ricotta gnocchi, Moreton Bay bugs, fresh peas and zucchini flowers. “They go to the markets every day and make fresh pasta daily,” Brown says.

The cocktail list includes the Painkiller, Ferrari and a Devil’s Advocate.
