It's time to eschew plastic-wrapped vegies, takeaway coffee cups and straws: not-for-profit environmental warriors Sustainable Table are on a mission to build a food system that's fair, humane, healthy and good for the environment with its new Give a Fork! campaign.

During April hundreds of restaurants and cafes throughout Australia will cook super-ethical food, donating a portion of sales to help fund resources that make ethical shopping and eating easy, such as Local Harvest, a national database of food co-ops and community food swaps.

Head to Half Moon (Brighton) for Greenvale pork rillettes with burnt potato (using skins left over from croquettes) or Lee Ho Fook (CBD) for crispy barramundi collar with longjing tea salt and spicy pickles.
