Despite owner Brenda Fawdon dodging the question when posed to her just weeks ago as to whether Mondo Organics had been sold, the West End restaurant posted on its Facebook page on Wednesday that it's had a change of ownership.

"It's time. To our beloved Mondo fans, the time has come for Sonja and I to say goodbye," the post said.

"We are handing over the sustainably grown, ethically forested, upcycled, recycled wooden spoon."

Fawdon and business partner Sonja Drexler opened Mondo Organics 15 years ago. At the time, it was lauded as Brisbane's only organic restaurant and cooking school, with notable chef Dominic Rizzo (now owner of Putia Pure Foods in Banyo) heading up the kitchen.

Mondo's new owners are Michaela and Derek Lockett.
