Wodonga is dining on the rails

Wodonga welcomes new restaurant Broadgauge, run by husband-and-wife team, chef Jodie Jones and front-of-house manager Steve Carne. The couple - who owned hatted restaurant Sourcedining in Albury for seven years until it closed in June 2011, and who followed up with 15 months at the Kitchen at the Courthouse Hotel in Howlong - were ''given an opportunity too good to pass up'', Jones says. Broadgauge is the first business to open in the Junction Place development on Elgin Boulevard at the old Wodonga station. After their years at Sourcedining, Jones says the pair was looking to create the same presentation and technique but with a more relaxed vibe. Her menu will focus on local produce with steaks from Sher Wagyu and Riverina Black Angus as well as charcuterie from Savour & Grace and boudin noir from local butcher Morrison Street Butchers. Carne will take care of the floor - currently at 60 seats but with plans to expand to 120 and to open dining on the former train platform in the summer. Broadgauge is open Tuesday to Saturday for dinner and Friday and Saturday for lunch.
