In the latest blow to the dining credentials of Westfield Sydney, the toqued Xanthi restaurant has served its last dish of baked duck egg with pastourma.

The restaurant didn't open for lunch today and staff have been told that time has been called at the impressive Greek eatery. Pitcher Partners has been appointed as liquidator.

A spokeswoman from Westfield Sydney confirmed the restaurant closed at lunchtime today and would not reopen.

Last November Cara & Co, Westfield's luxe Sydney concept store that married Belgian gastronomy with fashion and accessories, slid into voluntary administration and closed. Westfield Sydney has previously seen upmarket restaurants Becasse and Spiedo depart its glitzy CBD showpiece.

Xanthi's owner-chef David Tsirekas couldn't be contacted for comment. But the chef has been struggling at the restaurant for some time, last year selling his home partly to fund his business commitments.
