Japanese-Australian architect Koichi Takada's Infinity apartment building at Green Square is one of the hottest tickets in town even before a shovel has been lifted. Restaurateur Ray Ang is hoping Takada can bring the same magic to his latest restaurant. Ang will open a 100-seat spin-off of his Surry Hills restaurant, Zushi, next September at Barangaroo.

"It is a waterfront site. When I stood there I could picture people eating some yakitori and drinking sake on a Friday afternoon. So it'll have all the [Japanese] Zushi dishes as well as a yakitori bar. It is a smallish space, that's why you need a really good designer," Ang explains.

Takada first came to the attention of Good Food with his design for the elegant Cave sushi train in Maroubra. The architect also working with Jennifer Hawkins on her northside residential projects and more recently on the East Village development at Zetland.
