The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Month presented by Citi starts on October 1, with more than 450 events throughout the month.

Friday, October 2 to Sunday, October 5, Australian National Maritime Museum.

If you want to know where the cool crowd is this weekend, head to the Australian National Maritime Museum. Hidden among the tall ships is the now annual series of "young cuisine" masterclasses and pop-up parties – the Sydney showing of Omnivore. Founded in Paris, Omnivore tours some of Europe's most exciting new talents, pairing them with local stars such as Hamish Ingham of Bar H in Surry Hills and Morgan McGlone from Belle's Hot Chicken in Melbourne.

Saturday, October 4, 7am-noon, Pyrmont Bay Park

Kicking off proceedings this weekend is a special edition of the monthly Pyrmont Growers' Market with guest chefs Frank Camorra (MoVida) and Adam Liaw (host of SBS's Destination Flavour TV series) on the Market Chef stage. There's a barbecue theme to their dishes, which will also be available in tasting portions, matched with a Coopers beer or Thatchers cider. (Tickets $20 at growersmarketpyrmont.com.au). Regular purveyors will be sizzling sausages and there is a school holiday market tour for kids with "Growers'" regular Tawnya Bahr.
