How do you improve on soft-serve? Just apply the creative mind of Pierre Roelofs. The pastry chef and pioneer of Dessert Evenings at Fancy Nance will be handing out free soft-serves with miso caramel or strawberry cheesecake toppings, along with copies of The Age Good Food Month 2015 program, to the first 200 people who turn up at Queensbridge Square between noon and 1pm today.

A sweet theme runs throughout November's The Age Good Food Month, presented by Citi, reaching a sugar-fuelled high at Sweetfest on November 28-29, when Roelofs will be joined by cake diva Katherine Sabbath, Melbourne dessert queen Philippa Sibley and others for a new-fashioned bake sale. Details: goodfoodmonth.com.

Want more Roelofs? He has upcoming diet-friendly dessert nights, including a gluten-free evening, October 29, and a vegan evening on November 26. Details: pierreroelofs.com.
