Iconic Sydney (and Melbourne) restaurant Longrain is coming to Brisbane. Temporarily anyway. For 11 nights, Longrain will set up alongside local stallholders at Brisbane's Night Noodle Markets at South Bank in July as part of Good Food Month presented by Citi.

“The Night Noodles Markets in Sydney and Melbourne have been a great success, and we are looking forward to Brisbane,” says Longrain's managing director and owner Sam Christie. “We have many regular customers from Brisbane that frequent both restaurants so it is nice to repay the favour and bring Longrain to them.”

Longrain have been a fixture of the popular Night Noodle Markets in Sydney for the past four years. Last year they also served up their pan-Asian specialities at the inaugural Melbourne Night Noodle Markets; an event that saw on average of 30,000 hungry people per night streaming through the gates of Alexandra Gardens.

But what about the logistics of transferring staff and stove to Brisbane for 11 nights? Christie seems unfazed.

“We have a production kitchen in Longrain Sydney that makes doing an event like this viable. It is also great for our team to travel and get out of their comfort zone,” he says.

Brisbane's Night Noodle Markets will host 25 food stalls selling everything from dumplings to Asian-spiced pig on a spit, yakitori, and ramen noodles, as well as sweet treats such as the popular cronuts and waffles. There will also be seating gardens and lounges for guests to sit back and enjoy their dumplings and a drink.

Longrain said they had no plans to open more permanently in Brisbane, with Mr Christie simply commenting that they were looking at the the Night Noodle Markets as a forum for "testing the waters" in the Brisbane market.

The Night Noodle Markets at South Bank's Cultural Forecourt will run for 11 nights, from Thursday, July 17-Sunday, July 27. Entry is free. Go to goodfoodmonth.com for opening hours.
