Seafood

Tedder Avenue is the place to be seen on the Gold Coast, and like on the rest of the strip, the crowd at Shuck seems to be out for a good time. While meat and poultry are offered, as the name suggests, seafood is the star, and Shuck manages to make it as interesting as the passing Tedder parade. The standard oyster selection is joined by 'Oysters McPhee', named after a regular patron and consisting of oysters grilled with Spanish onion, prosciutto and orange hollandaise, flavours that add pleasant contrast and bite to the briny mollusc. Crab lasagne with a rich abalone cream is a signature dish, but for something lighter, vitello tonnato here comes with fresh tuna tartare on a tender veal fillet. For a bit of fun, try the orecchiette alla pescatore, seafood pasta cooked in a paper bag. Four desserts, including citrus presented in a variety of textures and a cheese platter, bring a meal to a satisfying close.
