Several city hot spots are moving beyond the bounds of inner-city high streets into shopping centres, with two new dining precincts set to reshape the ol' food court.

In Ringwood, Eastland this week announced its line-up of eateries, due to begin opening in October, which includes Frank Camorra's taqueria Paco's Tacos, heavyweight Huxtaburger and Jimmy Grant's Deluxe – with an extended menu and table service. "Jimmy is all about the people, so I can't wait to bring it to the people of eastern Melbourne," George Calombaris said.

Eastland's Town Square has been developed in partnership with Maroondah City Council incorporating a library, art and history galleries, outdoor public spaces and a dedicated dining concierge to greet and direct guests to Eastland's signature restaurants.

Other outlets to open in Town Square include Gelatieri, the first store outside Italy for the Lavezzi family who have been churning ice-cream since 1870; Hunter & Barrel serving skewers, soups and stews along with barrel-aged cocktails and craft beers; The Cellar Door rooftop garden and bar serving all things Yarra Valley; AngAng by Chinta Ria Soul; Casa Mia by Mario De Nardo; and fish and burger bar Hunky Dory.

Over in the west, Highpoint, in Maribyrnong, last week launched its casual Level One food precinct, with six new restaurants that are "reflective of the diverse community of Melbourne's west", Highpoint divisional director Ben Gill says. Among the six are Tina's Noodle Kitchen from the Dainty Sichuan family, and the second outlet of Footscray Malaysian restaurant Roti Road.
