Is Rene Redzepi plotting a local venue? Sydney is about to get a large mainline dose of Northern Hemisphere cooking talent, but it is Redzepi, the pin-up forager and owner of Copenhagen's Noma restaurant, who is generating the most buzz around town.

The chef has been in Sydney in recent weeks, trying to remain under the radar, even keeping his visit off social media, of which he is a prolific user.

Redzepi is a fan of Sydney, but is it too much to expect a southern hemisphere branch of Noma? Probably at this stage, but word is he has plans for a Sydney pop-up.

With or without the chef, Sydney won't be short of Noma-inspired talent, with Redzepi protege Sam Miller opening Silvereye late August in Chippendale.

English celebrity chef Jason Atherton opens Kensington Street Social, also at the Chippendale development, in July.

And the Rozelle Tramsheds development is the favourite to house English chef Tom Kime's Sydney branch of London restaurant Ceru.
