Birdman Eating

European

When it comes to lazy weekend brekkies with more than a touch of the gourmet (think brioche French toast with marmalade-glazed Kaiserfleisch, orange pekoe and maple syrup), Birdman Eating is Fitzroyalty. But it's not to be discounted in the evening. Small plates are the go: things like dense haloumi with red rice, lifted by sour cherries and pistachios, or butter-laden roasted brussels sprouts with capers, parsley and labna. Or maybe a thick slab of pork belly, its oiliness cut by pickled blood-plum sauce. Throw in a glass or two from its fine wine list and you'll leave this cosy little dining room groaning with pleasure.
