Take a Synesso espresso machine pumping out 5 Senses, with a side order of cold-filtered coffee, add cute Art Deco signage, a fab tiled bar and a record player. Stir in a concise menu of seasonal plates and you have the ultimate hipster cafe. Cru's kedgeree is a spicy mix of smoked cod, boiled egg and chilli - a solid interpretation of the British-Indian classic. More subtle but no less complex flavours feature in a filo galette of baby beets, goat's cheese, lentils and soy beans. Drinks offer their own surprises - a juice that pays homage to Vietnamese pho and, for the walking wounded, there's Berocca.
