Freestyle Espresso

Contemporary

Hidden down a one-way street, Freestyle makes the most of its turf. A spiffed-up driveway does well for outdoor seating, and a big window bathes indoor diners in morning sunshine. Owner Carolyn Mee's interiors background shows in the smart navy and black fitout. All-day breakfasts, such as thyme-roasted mushrooms with herby feta come with Dench sourdough. Passionfruit curd partners bircher muesli and, for lunch, expect pot pies (beef bourguignon), tarts (caramelised leek) and sandwiches (poached chicken, lemon mayo, parsley and avocado). For sweets, Mee's couverture blondies- a white-chocolate take on brownies- march out the door.
