Lolo and Wren

Cafe$$

An unlikely location makes Lolo & Wren, with its custom fitout of subway tiles, re-purposed shipping pallets and bistro chairs, a pleasant surprise. Cheffy-looking types work in an open kitchen, turning out smart seasonal food, from brioche French toast with roasted peaches and wild blackberry compote to pulled Golden Plains pork buns with crispy bacon and chargrilled sweet-corn salsa. A shiny Synesso produces a short black of 5 Senses Crompton Road blend, all creamy and cherry-bright, and a regular single origin, perhaps an Ethiopia Sidamo with nice cocoa and spice notes and clean, sweet fruit.
