Italian$$$

Modest Omni is the village trattoria, servicing an appreciative local clientele with generous flavours and homely service. A passion for great ingredients is evident in owner-chef Natalie Stivala's Spanish- and Italian-influenced menu, where you're likely to find some solid renditions of classic dishes such as patatas bravas and seafood paella alongside more creative numbers like excellent seared scallops with crispy capers, chilli and burnt butter. Approach the menu in the traditional entree-main way (with mains like spaghetti marinara and pumpkin risotto) or share and order as a series of smaller, tapas plates; chirpy young staff are happy to guide with recommendations. Desserts cover similar Mediterranean terrain; a terrific orange blossom-scented crema Catalana comes with a thoroughly smashable burnt toffee top. Latino spice and fire can be muted in some dishes, so if your preference is for autentico, tell the kitchen to cut loose.
