Locals love this cafe excursion by the folks behind Thornbury's Pizza Farro. Like Pizza Farro, Pomona leans on spelt flour - in the tin-loaf toast under just-set poached eggs, in the two slices barely containing a juicy beef-and-pork patty, and in the smoked ham and scamorza toastie on the little person's menu. The menu offers gluten-free options, plus cakes and biscotti from Carlton North's Biscotteria (the chocolate and zabaglione friand is a triumph), while a vegie patch in the courtyard supplies produce for specials such as a napoli-sauced vegetable terrine. Coffee is house-roasted, off site, a bright blend that works well with milk.
