Rita's Cafeteria

Italian$$

On a non-place patch of Johnston Street that has trains squealing over a hulking bridge and nose-to-tail traffic, lovely Rita’s is a soft landing. This smart-casual pizza-and-pasta diner’s gleaming white tiles, warm wood furniture and fresh flowers are welcome refuge. The casual vibe can at times translate to slow service. Morning commuters commune over good coffee and perhaps ham-and-brie croquettes with smashed peas and a poached egg. Pizzas may be topped with pork sausage, fennel, pea and chilli. Pastas might be gnocchi in duck ragout or orecchiette with zucchini and ricotta. For approachable food at reasonable prices all roads lead to Rita’s.
