Contemporary

It may be a long way from Hedestad, but clean lines, flashes of blond timber and a muted, light-grey palette (thanks to DesignOffice) give this rejuvenated former bank a definite Girl With The Dragon Tattoo feel. Instead of sharing a communal table with a laptop-wielding Lisbeth, though, you're more likely to rub shoulders with stylish, mature locals choosing from simple dishes bursting with fresh produce, such as crisp bacon, fried egg, tomato, jalapenos and cos lettuce on a soft Noisette white roll. A short black shows hints of mango before delivering a thin, slightly charry hit and a bitter finish.
