Union Dining

14.5/20

European$$

Like a perfect outfit, Union Dining goes from business to pleasure to party with panache. Cherry-picking great European dishes and giving them a modern flip, Nicky Riemer's menu defies you not to find something you like. Aged Hopkins River scotch fillet, or a platter of crisp-skinned suckling pig? Pappardelle, richly tumbled with goat, or risotto of spanner crab? Grilled zucchini with crunchy black quinoa and whipped goat's curd, or barbecue quail with tahini and pomegranate? Luckily, everything comes suited to sharing, 'even things that don't sound like you could', the waiter might tell you. So you can have it all, right through to good cheese, and classic closers like clafoutis or tiramisu. Co-owner Adam Cash's smoothly run dining room has discreetly spaced tables and bentwood chairs, and a pleasant buzz without being too noisy. Whether you're after a snack and a drink on the terrace after work, or a well-fed catch-up with friends, Union Dining is unlikely to disappoint.
