Modern Australian$$

What would Carlisle Street be without the Wall? For 15 years this dark and moody cafe has set the tone for the neighbourhood, bringing good coffee, graffiti art and streetside lounging to what was an old-world Jewish shopping strip. The vintage kosher butcher sign is still there, and the oversized vases of flowers, but the expanded cafe now seats more locals inside, where they enjoy tried-and-tested pide combos such as tomato, feta and basil or debreciner sausage, rocket and relish. Egg-and-bacon pie, baked eggs with sugo, and coddled eggs with mushrooms and mascarpone are just some of the googy options.
