A labour of love, the Wolf-Taskers have transformed a derelict caretaker's cottage into a truly special cafe. Its setting, in the heart of stunning botanic gardens is magnificent- often mist-shrouded, surrounded by century-old trees and grassy expanses. Garden plots bloom out back and the seasonal menu takes full advantage. Bundle up a picnic platter of, say, organic beetroot remoulade, duck parfait and warm bread and butter or take away 'the lunchbox', maybe filled with a pulled pork and Asian slaw ciabatta, Meredith yoghurt and stewed fruit, and a Belgian chocolate crackle. It's the Lake House of the Cheap Eats' world and it's fabulous.
