High on a hill in the lush botanic gardens, this lovingly restored 1940s gardener's cottage is position perfect. Inside is easy on the eye, too: whimsical forest-themed murals, beautifully upholstered furnishings and a casual indoor-outdoor vibe. Relax fireside, or nestle among the rambling foliage in the annexe or rear garden. Owner Alla Wolf-Tasker (Lake House) ensures the ever-changing menu sings with seasonal, local produce. Breakfast on an egg and bacon pizza oozing with cheese. Lunch might include a slow-roasted pork baguette with Asian 'slaw or a saucy chilli dog.
