RecipeTin Eats’ shows you how to make your favourite Japanese dishes at home

Izakayas are the Japanese equivalent of Aussie pubs – but they are about as different as you can get. Think: cosy restaurants where friends and co-workers gather around cramped tables with a steady stream of small share-style plates of food and an even steadier stream of ice-cold beers and sake. It’s one of my favourite ways to catch up with family and friends in Japan. In Australia, Japanese restaurants serve slightly modernised versions of those traditional izakaya dishes, and that’s the style we’re running with here. Many thanks to my mother, Yumiko, for the recipes from her website RecipeTin Japan, which we’ve adapted for these dishes −Nagi Maehashi
