Contemporary

A secret in plain sight, this lounge bar in the old University Hall building is seemingly invisible to the pedestrian traffic on the corner of Glebe Point Road and Broadway, making it an unorthodox people-watching pavement diner. Like the magnificent Italianate architecture, prices are historic (200g rump for $16), but the burger selection is visionary. From Mexican fish to Old London sausage, each is served tall in a crusty cob, drowned in sauce and with way too many chips. Pick whichever is $10 today, or punt the extra four bucks for the brain-meltingly fine pulled pork. If people cotton on, there actually will be bedlam.
