Contemporary

Brasserie Bread is now a much-loved institution - which means hundreds trek here for their daily bread, not to mention Saturday's bread-making classes. If you can get a seat inside the industrial-sized cafe and an order in at the counter, sit back and watch the bakers hard at work behind the glass. As you'd expect (and hope), most of the menu items are bread-related, but it's hard to go past the tea cakes to accompany an earthy Allpress Espresso's Carmello blend caffe latte ($3.50) with a hint of cocoa. And if you can't get a seat, stock up on breads from the bakery counter near the entrance.
