Contemporary

Part providore, part bar and part cafe, Chez Dee excels admirably on all fronts. Whether dining downstairs in the breezy French provincial setting or lounging on cushions in the Turkish-spiced first-floor boudoir, slow-cooked eggs topped with sea urchin caviar and an army of sourdough soldiers is certainly one of the most elegantly nourishing brekkies in the city. An evolving specials board sees lobster sliders and baked hummus make flirtatious appearances, but the $12 Sunday roast is a keeper - cracking good pork or succulent lamb with your choice of salad; maybe broccoli florets with aioli or fluffy pumpkin with pepitas and mint.
