Good Food hat15/20

Modern Australian$$

Tuesday is $15 day, so a 12-hour confit pork belly with potato gratin and a crispy skin Atlantic salmon with an oyster mushroom, peas, parmesan and spinach risotto costs $30 instead of $51. The relatively recent reincarnation of this Northern Beaches icon is cavernous and airy, aiming for a sophisticated city-meets-surf feel. But the Tuesday diners seem to be locals or families meeting up for a decent feed at a bargain price. There's a separate share menu (arancini balls, harissa prawns, tandoori chicken skewers) plus a wide range of pizzas, steaks and desserts. The one gripe? Unsmiling staff.
