With the arrival of hit cafe In the Annex, Forest Lodge now has everything big brother Glebe has, just on a smaller scale (and to an arguably better degree). Hendricks bottles for table water, comics instead of tabloids and Lilliputian dinosaurs guarding the cake display make this one of Sydney’s most smile-inducing cafes. And the food? Killer. A salad of winter vegetables in olive soil (yes, soil) is ridiculously pretty, and foraged warrigal greens and wild fennel atop potato and not-so-wild fennel is a steadying dish if there ever was one. Hungover Harries might prefer an Umami long black and brekkie burrito with extra speck.
