Ippudo

This branch of the international Ippudo chain mightn’t have ramen aficionados purring, but it rates highly enough that you might feel the urge to high-five the waiter wearing an ‘I Heart Ramen’ T-shirt. Karaka men tamago is an earthy, pork bone broth with spicy miso, minced pork, egg and noodles. Tonkotsu tan tan men has far more depth; thicker, spicier and enriched by a nutty hint of sesame. Entrees of pan-fried dumplings and a bubbling bowl of spicy tofu warm up the taste buds. The ‘I Heart’ sentiment extends to the upbeat music and singsong ‘irasshaimase’ chorus greeting each new customer.
