These days, a long queue is as much a part of the Sydney Malaysian dining experience as roti, laksa and ‘stretched’ tea. But what lies at the end of this queue is a little different. Hailing from Kuala Lumpur (via Melbourne), PappaRich is a vast dining space lined with a pumping open kitchen. Fill in the order form, press the buzzer on your table and wait for your food - flaky-light roti canai; fragrant, mop-able chicken curry; and stacks of sticks of firm but flavoursome beef satay. Everyone finishes on a sweet, icy air batu campu, AKA ice kachang. So yes, it’s worth the wait.
