South American

The kitsch factor might be turned up to 11, but the Caribbean itself doesn't feel too far away on a balmy afternoon here; rotating fan overhead, rum sangria in hand. Jamaican cuisine means lashings of jerk spice and Queenie's doesn't hold back, with the fiery blend present in everything from coconut-rolled corn and barbecued chicken to tender pork neck and even the custard that shares a plate with divine Kingston doughnuts. Curried oxtail patties are a tad more subdued but no less addictive and barbecued kingfish topped with ribbons of escovitch capsicum is beachside sunset on a plate.
