Remember the scene in Forrest Gump where Bubba recounts all the recipes involving shrimp? The menu at Queenie's reads much the same, except here it's all about chilli-laden Jamaican jerk spice. 'We got jerk corn, jerk chicken, jerk pork... jerk burger, jerk dressing, jerk mayo...' Heck, it even figures in the sweet dipping sauce for Queenie's pillowy Kingston Kreme donuts. Thankfully jerk tastes tops - barbecue jerk chicken with slaw is all piquant black gold on the outside and fleshy white bird within, while the pulled pork and pineapple bammies (tortilla-style cassava flatbreads) are tremendous fun to scoff with a can of Red Stripe. Being another in the Drink N Dine group series (see The Carrington), subtlety takes a back seat in this decently sized, double-tiered space with its busy walls full of flying pigs, fake flowers and plastic fish. And that's not to mention a large portrait of cricketing great Viv Richards looking down contentedly over the chummy waitstaff and happy hipsters alike.
