Queenies

South American

Sydney is a long way from the Caribbean, or Brixton for that matter, but Queenies tries hard to transform upstairs at the Forresters into a beach hut bar and eatery with a 'rum and bric-a-brac' theme and Cocktail-esque barmen. It's not quite the street food of Jamaica (no goat's pizzle soup here), but a modern, safe take on classics such as jerk chicken, plantain fritters, oxtail patties and curried goat (no bones in this polite version). The food is sunny and great for groups – who may or may not opt to share the excellent desserts such as doughnuts with a spiced chocolate dipping sauce.
