Sushi-Ya

Japanese$$

Tucked away in the corner of an arcade lined with Japanese food stores and restaurants, Sushi Ya is a favourite among locals, filling quickly most nights. As the name suggests, sushi is their main game, but there is plenty of sashimi and tempura to tempt you as well. Start with scallop tataki of beautifully plump, lightly seared scallops, followed by a mixed tempura platter for some crunch. Skip the sushi platters and go straight for the individual sushi rolls, or even a hand roll or two. Stick to classic combos such as salmon avocado or even soft-shell crab, all made to order with generous serves.
