The Courthouse Hotel

13/20

Contemporary

Sitting on a nondescript corner away from the Newtown hustle and bustle is the Courthouse Hotel. By early evening the spacey courtyard is chockers with hordes of hipsters, with no heels or corporate attire in sight. The pub features a decent-sized standard menu with a few twists. Juicy lamb shanks come drenched in a rich tomato-based sauce on a parmesan-crusted polenta base; the mix almost works, but is a little lacking in flavour. A side of Greek salad is not very Greek, but still delicious. It's the kind of pub where the clientele don't care too much as long as it tastes good.
