The Pumphouse

14.5/20

Modern Australian$$

They're not barmen, they're beer doctors, curing any ale-ment with a 5am Saint BrewDog or Trappist-style Chimay. A long steel bar is all that stands between you and 100 brewed sensations in this converted pumphouse-cum-Belgian beer hall with its oversized hanging lamps and soaring ceilings. The oven-baked barramundi burger is a triumph, the fillet so perfectly cooked and succulent it has the life expectancy of a cicada. Peking pizza is loaded with ducky toppings dressed with spring onion and cucumber and the chewy base goes down a treat. This is a pub for beer lovers; they do cocktails and wine too, but seriously, why would you bother?
