Vacanza

Italian$$

The name of this two-storey, dimly lit pizzeria is fitting, with pies authentic enough to transport you to Napoli. But before you get to the puffy-edged, thin-based pizza, start with golden arancini: petite balls with a crunchy outer and a soft cheesy-rice centre. Pasta is worth adding to the itinerary, too: try plump house-made gnocchi in a thick tomato sauce. The main attraction, though, is the pizza with sparse quality toppings, such as the 'villa verde' with thin slices of char-grilled eggplant, provolone and fresh herbs. The marinara is as simple and traditional as they come, spread with tomato sauce and a sprinkling of oregano and basil, and Nutella calzone is happy-snap worthy. Bon voyage!
