Manmayura

Japanese$$

Faux-stone veneer, neon lights and lino floors greet diners at this cheap and cheerful Japanese joint. Start with the prawn ebi roll, the rich, oozy camembert tempura, or the octopus takoyaki, which arrives dressed in bonito flakes, salty seaweed and a creamy mayonnaise. For something slightly less indulgent, the chicken katsu bristles with a crunchy deep-fried crumb coating, and the sho-yu ramen is hearty and filling. Most mains come in two sizes; opting for the small makes a handy excuse to also order a fresh plate of sashimi. Finish with the simple but unusual flavours of green tea or sesame ice-cream.
