We're on the hunt for Australia's favourite dishes. Is it the pavlova (and do we care if New Zealand claims it?), mid-loin lamb chops thrown on the barbecue? A beetroot-adorned burger? Or does one of the native meats deserve special status: kangaroo, crocodile or wallaby?

We want to hear from you in time for Australia Day as we search for the nation's best-loved food - the dishes, recipes and ingredients that make us who we are.

We're happy to hear all your nominations, from indigenous foods to well-loved adopted ones that reflect Australia's multiculturalism.

Is our national dish roast lamb and lamingtons? And did Paul Hogan have it right when he suggested we love to throw a shrimp (read prawn) on the barbie?

The best recipes from Australia's leading chefs straight to your inbox.
