Pub dining

We love the old front bar but wish they'd extended that classic Art Deco pub feel through to the back, which is a little bland by comparison. That said, it hits all the right notes; specials, monster steak and rib nights, shared plates, trivia, 2-for-1 cocktails in happy hour. A small gourmet pizza (garlic prawns, fire-roasted capsicum, feta cheese) is excellent, a 250-gram sirloin is a little overdone but lifted by beautifully tasty two-potato gratin. A tuna burger is a trifle overwhelmed by lemon aioli. The pub's famous beer-battered fries are famous for a reason. You WILL try the restaurant-standard Chocolate Experience.
