St Ali

Contemporary$$

‘Drinking decaf is like kissing your sister’, reads the letter board inside this warehouse cafe. That’s St Ali in a nutshell: speciality coffee with a side of sass. Caffeine is split into ‘traditional’ and ‘next level’, with a Costa Rican tasting plate for the indecisive. Breakfast mixes favourites with newcomers, such as scrambled eggs with braised octopus. Burgers are bountiful during the hectic lunch rush, but dishes like braised pork neck with seasonal greens, gutsy kimchi and a son-in-law egg lift things a notch. Fluffy lamingtons with crowns of sticky jam are a blissfully nostalgic ending.
