Pub dining$$

This heritage-listed pub sits opposite the finger wharves and it's this prime location that proves a real draw for tourists, who can often be found propping up the bar. When the sun is shining, sit outside and enjoy the location with a plate of prawns grilled to perfection alongside a bowl of old-school parsley-flecked garlic bread. For mains, the caesar salad is a thoroughly thought-through classic with salty anchovies, generous strips of bacon and garlicky croutons. The fish and chips are also faultless: the battered whiting is salty, crisp and moist and the hand-cut wedges are an evil pleasure.
