Modern Australian

It's one of the easternmost cafes in Sydney, with naught but a car park between it and sand and sea, so there's plenty of sunshine flooding the broad veranda of this corner cafe. It spills over the sturdy wooden tables laden with fresh flowers, acai smoothies and lime-green avocadoes on sourdough. T2 tea comes on its own tray, and even an egg and bacon roll arrives on smooth, tactile pottery by David Edmonds. An order-and-pay counter keeps things moving but at busy times there's a sign posted that signals the waiting time for a peppy Little Marionette caffe latte ($3.50). Ours was 15 minutes, but who cares?
