Brisbane's Esquire has retained its title as Queensland's highest rating restaurant, collecting three hats for the fourth year in a row at the Brisbane Times Good Food Guide awards on Monday night.

There was a significant increase in the total number of hats awarded, with 61 compared to 50 last year.  The regions just pipped Brisbane with 32 hats compared to the Brisbane's 29, with a very strong performance from the Gold Coast.

Hot on Esquire's heels is its own progeny, Esq, which boasts its own kitchen, staff, and menu, and as of this year, two hats. GOMA restaurant at the Gallery of Modern Art also received a second hat, as did The Peak at Maryvale. Aria Brisbane retained its two hats, while Stokehouse lost one.
