At certain times of the day, practically every table at this nostalgia-ridden cafe is taken up by a single gentleman of a certain age. Being regulars, the long-term staff members know all their orders - not difficult, as nearly everyone drinks the flat white. The caffe latte ($3) is blisteringly hot and brute-force strong, while the pastries, sandwiches (your choice of croissant, roll, focaccia or Turkish) are as old-school as the regulars. Prime position on the narrow front veranda has the added advantages of being near the street action and away from the ping-ping-ping of the pinball machine in the back room.
